My path in public safety started at the console as a 911 dispatcher, answering the call when people were having their worst days. That experience built a foundational respect for operational clarity and rapid response, which carried over when I put on the badge as a Deputy Sheriff at the same agency. Over the years, I had the privilege of serving as a Patrol Sergeant and Shift Lieutenant, leading teams in high-stakes environments where accountability and real-time information weren't just nice to have — they were essential.
During my service, I helped build our local public safety dive team from the ground up. As we established our operational standards, my mission was clear: I wanted our unit to be one of the most highly trained, sophisticated, and safe dive teams in the region. That ambition immediately hit a bottleneck. When searching for software to manage our team, track complex dive profiles, handle equipment logs, and document mission-critical training, nothing built for commercial or recreational diving fit the harsh realities of public safety work. The tools we needed simply didn't exist. So, I set out to build it myself.
What began as a targeted, internal tool designed specifically to elevate the safety and efficiency of our own dive team quickly proved its value in the field. Seeing the tangible impact it had on our operational readiness, I realized this couldn't stay in just one agency. Public safety dive teams everywhere face the exact same structural challenges, and they deserve purpose-built tools that prioritize responder safety, rigorous compliance, and seamless incident command. That realization became OneTactiQ.
